Software is programs and other operating information used by a computer and other related gadgets. A computer is an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program, which is called software. Software is an opposite of hardware, which cannot be varied.
There are two main types of computer software: the first is an application program - a program or piece of software designed and written to fulfill a particular purpose of the user. And the other is operating system - the software that supports a computer's basic functions, such as scheduling tasks, executing applications, and controlling peripherals. Both are very important and needed. But most computer users are just not interested in the second type because it is a very complicated system of signs and requires additional knowledge to understand while applications are easy and can be used right away even by starters.
Variety of software programs is just huge. There are different programs for storing data, for writing and typing, for burning CDs and DVDs, for listening to the music, for graphics and design, or playing different games, for learning, sharing images, and so much more. Lack of some software can cause the underestimation of the real power of you computer.
