Ascentive Software is a rip off

Since it was advertised on national TV I thought it had to be legit. This software is now infecting my machine with viruses then telling me to buy more of their software to fix it. Stay away! Rip-off

not only did the Ascentive products slow down my system almost to a complete stop, after purchasing three products, I requested cancelation immediately, to which they replied "we will give you 30 days to change your mind"....and now I can't even access them to find out why I couldn't get cancellation on demand. I gave them order numbers, credit card numbers, etc., to identify the items. Nothing. It cost me almost $100 to learn the definition of rip-off. Then a single cd came and I returned it, unopened, and on that one, I did receive a small credit. I will never again trust Ascentive.

1. My experience with this company and product has been essentially the same as all of the 47 complaints posted on this web site, although some of the problems cited haven’t shown up yet (it’s been an hour).

2. Ascentive (aka finallyfast, pcscanpro, among other names) employs fraudulently false and misleading representations on its website. It claims that your computer will be “fixed” if you buy product #1 for $29, but after you buy #1, you are informed that only part of the potential problem has been (allegedly) solved and that you need to buy up to (as far as I saw) four to finish the job at similar prices apiece.

2. The purchase process does not have a final confirmation ( “This is your order – please confirm”) page, like all reputable websites seem to have, and I would have assumed was a requirement of the merchant account providers. As a result after my card had been charged the number was greater than what I believed I had ordered (you have to opt out of “upsells”).

3. I agree with the complainants on this website that the product doesn’t work, but I cannot provide specific proof as I can of #2 above. Also, I believe that the large number of “problems” covered in the “free scan” were also fraudulent, but can’t prove it.

4. The Company advertises on the History channel. Shame on the History Channel and shame on me. I would imagine that the ICC should have some jurisdiction if the TV ads are being carried in more than one state.

5. I plan to notify the fraud department of VISA and provide them with this website URL.

Ascentive Software - Overcharged & Can't Load!

I was offered a renewal for $29.95; my credit card was charged $47.85! I emailed the company to tell them to either charge me the original amount or get in touch with me to explain why I was overcharged. Of course, no response. Now I'm trying to load the renewal package and can't load it! I keep getting a page that says for $29.95(!) I can get renewal software! I want this stuff gone and I want my money back! I FINALLY found the corporate sales phone number (1-88*-449-****) and will let them know what they can do with their software!

Holy *** people really do pay money for something they can do all by themselvs! FOR FREE!

Maybe I should hire myself out for the same? I could make a mint off of *** people like this.

Google what you want to do.

Speed up your internet connection? Upgrade your package from your ISP. Thats all you can do.

speed up your computer? there are all kinds of registry tweeks you can do. But be careful you can kill windows real fast.

Good lord even Micro$oft has tweeking programs FOR FREE!!!

No wonder the economy is in the crapper...

I was overcharged!!!

I ordered Ascentive software and immediately suspected it was a ripoff. I came to this conclusion after I tried to contact them because they had overcharged my account by roughly $22.00, but found found this to be near impossible. It is extremely difficult to find a telephone contact number. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt I decided to go ahead and at least try to set the software up. It didn't take long for me to realize it did absolutely nothing to improve the performance of my computer. Something along the legal lines should be done or I fear this company will continue its practices.

My Refund Please.......

Where is my refund? This company ascentive was suppose to back the product. The software program was to be guaranteed if not satisfied. I was not happy with the product, because it slow down my computer even more than before I started with the software. I did get the online help and they tried to tell me I did not download the program and I knew I had as well as running the program, but it did not work with my computer. They took the money from my account and now where is my refund? Waiting patiently for the refund.

clinklink.com, worse company I have come in contact with on the Internet. They are without a doubt.

I ordered ink from them and within minutes I got an email stating the regular B.S. about how glad they were I placed the order and the order would be shipped right away. Minutes later I got an email telling me they were out of stock. Within minutes I wrote them and told them to cancel the order as I need the ink NOW.

This is a copy and paste of most of the email:” We are writing to you as a matter of courtesy. As per your communication to us, we cancelled the unshipped order that you had placed at Clickinks.com. We would also like to inform you that a refund/store credit for this order will be processed, pending approval by the manager." In other email from them I was informed of their TERMS and CONDITION" (Oh, they are so proud of this.) They quote or mention them in every email.) My order was never shipped because they were out of stock. BUT they billed me anyway.

Then tell me over and over that it will take 30 to 60 days to get a credit. This is on an order never shipped. I have ordered, received and returned merchandise and received a credit in less than three weeks from other sites. They want to try to blame the Credit Card Company.

BULL. There is absolutely NO good reason FIRST to charge before something is shipped and SECOND 30 to 60 days to refund something that was never shipped. Ridicules. I will never do business with them again...Do yourself a favor and stay away from them.

If you have to go to their site read their Terms and Conditions first.

If they issue me a store credit I will fight them every way I can. They will find out what MY terms are.

They cant do this to anyone anymore! I almost made the mistake of buying this damned product.

Malware Bytes

Those of you that bought the software after seeing the ad on TV should have known when the customers in the ad are running MacIntosh computers. If the company cant tell the difference between a Mac and a PC, it is a good bet that their product wont work To get rid of Ascentive spyware use the program called MalwareBytes. It is free to scan and free to remove. Best product available. Malware Bytes fines many scam software products and is free to download and use. I am just making up words here to get to the 100 word limit.

MALWAREBYTES FREE DOWNLOAD IS A SCAM. TRY RUNNING THEIR FREE SCAN AND THEN RUN IT AGAIN. IT WILL SAY YOUR INFECTED EVEN AFTER THEY SAY IT'S BEEN REMOVED!

#94426

Whoa! He was saying Ascentive was a scam and the best way to remove their crapware is to use Malwarebytes' Anti-malware.

I have been using Malwarebytes' Free Edition for many years. Another good malware remover is SuperAntiSpware Free Edition. They both do a deep scan of the registry (including the hidden entries)and files. I have both on my system and SuperAntiSpyware also has a Tools section to repair some of the aftereffects malware causes after removal.

They both have a Pro Edition which provide real-time protection and auto-updates but I figure it isn't worth the additional expense. I just do the scan and updates manually periodically.

#75046

The valid Malwarebytes developers would never do such a thing. You'd better get your story straight or face a libel suit.

#69881

Malwarebytes is a top notch malware removal utility. You say it's a scam, you don't know what you are talking about.

#68102

Malwarebytes software is just as big of scam. They have in the recent past been involved with their own little scandal.

They affiliated with a group of scammers that call their customers at home and try to scare them into buying malwarebytes software.

don't become a victim. if you get this call, report them and malwarebytes to the proper authorities.

PC Speed scan Pro scam

I got Ascentives SpeedScan Pro to help fix registry errors. For the past 4-5 months I have not been able to use it. It keeps telling me there is Maintanance going on. Total BS. For some reason I am not able to get ahold of Ascentive to *** them out. I am super pissed and want my money back. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might go about this. I shouldn't have bought this product anyway, but i figured it can't hurt. I am getting at the end of my limit of patience and cant take anymore.

I had this invade my pc for a bit...wole me up at 4AM with a loud message about needing to take care of around 3000 (!!!) "critical" errors. I knew then it was another invasive BS program.

I deleted the program under 'Add/Delete Programs', and did a system restore just to be safe, and all is now back to normal.

Their corporation must have a head quarters, let us get together for a class action lawsuit of all the people who have been conned. There is a legal contract when an offer is made and accepted.

State authorities are obligated to get involved, are they not, for prosecution of violating contract law. porsche888zzz@***.com

They over charged me by $17.90

I was shown a price of $29.95 and charged $47.85 I want a refund of the different or, refund the $47.85 and put it back on my card today. thank you melvin.day318 The ascentive program is a good program but, I don't want it if you'll are going to overcharge me. Everyone that have a computer needs a good anti-virus program with a good company that won't overcharge its customers. So in order to maintain your good representation ,if that is the case and I think it is please refund the money.

Had enough

From a person who has worked (programed, project managed beginning in 1957) with computed this is the worst software I have every seen. It requires 5 minutes to being up my computer because it whats to do all it's scan. I do not believe this is required for each start up. I keep finding the software is some place else. I have deleted it various times, I hope this is last time. I have also requested a refund because of my desire to remove this software. More than two weeks have passed and I am yet to hear from them. I will try again today. It appears that it would require a sizable dollar investment to install all of the scans.

Ascentive PC Proscan - I cannot remove the programme!

I saw the ad for this programme on UK TV and it seemed the ideal solution to improve my snail-pace pc performance. I downloaded the free part of the programme but stopped at the point where I had to pay as I wasn't sure it would be worth the money, which a computer literate friend later confirmed it would not be. Now, everytime I log on to my computer I get the Ascentive ad popping up, telling me how many errors it has detected and asking me to download the full programme, for a fee of course. I have tried to remove the programme but it just throws up an error message. I have tried to restore my computer to a date prior to instalation but without success. I wish I had checked the comments on this site first! Lesson learned.

Ascentive software's popup ads

My computer was running slow. I was unable to listen to my favorite audio stream. I was told that I needed to clean the register. I found Asentive's website in a search and I purchased Ascentive's register cleaner it failed to correct the problem. I has previously downloaded Microsoft's junk file remover. I constantly get popup's from Ascentive saying that I have 5411 junk files that need to be removed. These are just ads from Ascentive. The aforementioned number continues to show up, even though I got the Microsoft junk file remover to work. I'm looking for a way to turn off their annoying popup ads

Ascentive Downloads contain Spy-ware!!! Beware!

Purchased Ascentive SpeedScan on 12/31/2008...Computer was slower than ever, contacted them & they talked me into downloading another program...it made it worse! Computer got slower & slower, then it crashed.Total fraud...ripped me off! PC crashed, took it to be fixed, the tech said it was because of the spy-ware that is on Ascentive Download... I want a refund, they will not answer their phone...won't answer emails! Hope that everyone will read all the complaints and will do something to this company...shut them down...& take them to court for what they are doing.
