Deceptive claims & unsatisfactory service

After a scan provided by Ascentive I I signed up to "remove junk files" _ Charge $29.99. Offer to fix register errors -- another charge of $29./99.

Offer to speed up slow computer - another $29.99. Offer to get fix " trojen horse" by "microsoft.tech. support" guaranteed for two years - first of 3 installments with first being $129. I am requesting cancellation of ll Ascentive programs including microsoft.tech.support along with a refund of all credit card chrges.

I find the promotion provided by Ascentive is decep[tive/moisleading and not siupported by performance.Wm.

Ascentive PC Speedscan

I got carried away with sweet marketing words describing how good was the pc cleaner.I downloaded the trial version & it produced a report saying my pc had 239 items which needed cleaning. I tried to clean but then it wanted $99- as opposed to 40days free trial claim.I did not buy it & now I am stuck with it. The *** thing keeps popping up every now & then which interferes with my work.

I have tried to remove it but in vain.

This company is nothing but a scammer & wants to generate revenues by defrauding consumers .BEWARE do not rely on the product.

Call your bank and tell them that you did not authorize the charges and want them removed from your account - if the bank refuses to do so, threaten them that if they don't remove all of the charges that you will close your bank account(s) with them - don't use that threat unless they tell you the won't remove the charges. A lot of banks don't feel like dealing with the hassle so they will tell you then can't do it so you may have to make idle threats!).

Some banks will make you fill out a form, some will take your info over the phone. And as an added bonus, if you get your money back that way, Ascentive gets hit with fines and penalties from the credit card company for each charge your bank reverses!

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY

I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY HOME SYSTEM. FOUND THIS COMPANY AND DECIDED TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP.

I FELL INTO THERE TRAP AND BOUGHT A 3 YEAR LIVE SUPPORT. OK I'M ***. KNOW THEY CHARGED ME 4 TIMES FOR A SOFTWARE ONTOP OF THE SUPPORT. I NEVER ORDERED THE SOFTWARE.

CALLED AND COMPLAINED AND I CANCELLED ALL SERVICES DUE TO THEM CHARGING MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE THE MONEY BACK IN MY ACCOUNT WITH IN 5 TO 7 DAYS. WELL IT HAS BEEN 15 DAYS AND I HAVE NO MONEY AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME AGAIN, SO I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CONSUMER. WHEN YOU CALL YOU ARE CALLING A CALL CENTER.

THIS ONE WAS IN THE PHILLIPIENS. THEY GAVE ME THE SAME STORY THAT I WILL HAVE THE MONEY IN 5 DAYS. THE CORP.

OFFICE IS IN PHILLY AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE THE NUMBER. SO IF YOU ARE AS *** AS I AM GO AHEAD AND PURCHASE SOMETHING FROM THEM, SO I DONT FEEL LIKE THE ONLY *** IN THE WORLD

Don't believe a word Ascentive tells you.

In November of 2011, I entered into a verbal agreemrnt with Ascentive. Ascentive performed a cleanup of my computer and offered a 24/7 two year coverage program for $129.00 a month for three months.

In addition they sent me software that I didn't order for an additional $42.50. This was charged to a credit card. Since the initial verbal order, I have talked to five customer service reps at Ascentive who promised to send my cancellation request to the business office and I would be notified by e mail that my cancellation was being processed and a refund would be in order. To date, (march, 2012), nothing has happened.

I was forced to cancell my credit card to avoid a third charge, and am working with the credit card company. I am deluged on a daily basis with Ascentive ads.

I think this is a big scam being run from India, as all of the service reps and technicians speak with a very heavy Indian dialect, very difficult to understand and totally oblivious to the customers needs. They need to be put out of business.

Their call center is in some craphole in India and you can barely understand these *** I too was told that I have errors on my computer and that they wanted to charge me $283.00 for a service plan that I did not need!

Buyer beware, these Indians are corrupt! Goto cnet.com and get all the free software you could ever need and never have to pay for it again with these ***

Ascentive-Bad Cmmunication

Free Scan/Found 800 errors? To fix errors you had to buy service $29.95yr.

special. Paid then called to activate waited 45 min on hold finally hung up. Called next day waited 20 min. hung up.

Checked bill on line found they'd billed $42.90. Sent complaint form detailing everything. The @***.95 offer, the $42.90 billing, the 45+min.wait to activate, hanging up, calling next day waiting 20 min. and again hanging up without activating again.

Told them I just wanted to cancel and to refund my money. After back and forth emails and a phone call they finally agreed and refunded my money and cancelled my non-service. The PC SpeedScan is still on my computer causing problems, I can't remove it. Everytime I try to remove it I get the message "The following applications are using files that need to be removed by this set-up.

Close this application and try again. And the app. it lists is PC SpeedScan.

The one I'm trying to remove which has never been activated. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Don't trust Ascentive. Their programs have been proven not to actually work.

I am sorry that you're experience with us was not what you expected! I would be happy to help you uninstall the program and expedite any other issues you may have. Since your post was anonymous, I am unable to look up your account but please feel free to email me at emarunich@***.com to get this take care of.

Thank you,

this is a common virus, it is a fake error reporting screen in order to dupe you out of money.

you would be better off taking it to a local shop and have the virus cleaned cause paying money to some people that just infected your computer gets you nothing.

better yet just run FreeBSD OS.

I cannot log in using the name and pass word sent to me by Ascentive

I cannot get into the system using the name and pass word supplied by ascentive. what is the deal?

This is the most frustrating program I have ever encountered. Every where I turn it is a bunch more "stuff". and here I am 60 words short of having some one tell me how to get into this program. If I cannot get in, I want my money back!

I am growing very fearful of this being nothing but a scam.

And I'm still 20 words short of saying nothing but "let me in". So what do I say next?

Will not do anything it says it will

My computer is slower than ever. It will scan but will not remove the junk files. My Internet stops responding.

Sometimes I can't disconect, I have to turn my computer off.I'm really not happy at all. I do believe there is a 30 day period that if you are not satisfied you refund my money. Well I'm not satisfied and I would like a refund. I did not have all these problems when I used this software before.

I don't know what the problem is now.

I want a refund. It takes 10 minutes for my email to load.

Don't trust Ascentive LLC

This Started out to be $29.99 to clean up my PC,this is the worst *** I have ever encountered. It has done nothing help my PC after charging me more then $150.00.

Now they are asking me to update my billing information, are they kidding me. There is no way to call them and complain or the get help to cancel this ***. There should be a class action law suit to stop this scam.

There are many people that can't afford a new PC and don't have the knowledge to repair there PC. This company praise on the consumers.Something should be done!!!

They probably mean that the card was charged multiple times.

I contstanly run PCSpeedScanPro so was concerned when I saw so many negative response about this company. Of course, I stay in contact with them whenever something goes awry so, I must inquire...

did you take the time to contact Ascentive?

What product of theirs cost 150? Everything I noticed is 29.95.

Contact BBB on Ascentive Software

Ascentive charged our credit card without authorization. We repeatedly contacted them to have the charge removed.

We then requested our credit card to withhold payment, but they can only do so if Ascentive agrees to allow the refund - they did not. I had documented dates, names and general conversation info when talking to Ascentive personnel. I went online to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. Within one week, Ascentive was calling me to apologize and send a refund.

So all you upset consumers - do something about it!

Report them immediately! Do make sure you have contacted Ascentive at least once and preferably twice to resolve the issue on your own.

Ascentive & Fraudulent Credit Card Charges

We just got a call from our credit card company that Ascentive was trying to charge $59.95 onto our credit card.

We never have purchased through them and whoever was trying to didn't have the right expiration date of our card.

If you see a charge on your account from Ascentive and have not purchased any software from them, contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. If your credit card company is as good as Discover, they will take care of you.

Ask your credit card company to close your account and give you a new one, too. We had unauthorized charges show up on our account a couple years ago (they figure our card was skimmed locally) and they didn't close our account then. We wondered about that. Of course, now they are! Hopefully this will stop future hacks.

" We had unauthorized charges show up on our account a couple years ago (they figure our card was skimmed locally) and they didn't close our account then"

Sounds like a issue with personal security in contrast to an actual issue with Ascentive. Now that I read it over I suppose I can understand why "future hacks" as you called them would be interested in keeping their computers optimized but that is still pretty scary. Best of wishes in regard to the safety of all your future endeavors

Guest

You don't say so, but it sounds like the money came out of your bank account? Did you check (with your bank) to see if it was via your debit card?

You should have contacted your bank - not Ascentive.

Only contact merchants if you have done business with them. It's likely someone making a fraudulent charge from your hacked your credit/debit card and they're checking it out for future use.

Guest

I called the customer service line on their website and she was rude also!!! She told me she needed to have her manager call me back and then before we hung up she said a specialist will get in contact with you.

I better get my ffn money back.

Should i close my bank acct? Does this mean my acct # is out?

Guest

Hi Maloneli,

I don't think PayPal is the link. We do have a PayPal account, but haven't used it in months.

Ouch...hope your bank helps you with the debit card. I know hackers can really go to town once they get into a bank account.

Guest

I just found the same amount on my debit account. I got a hold of their live chat...person was a ***!

Said their system found a fraud order? really? but could not give me any info on who? Just that it was voided already.

Then why is it still on my account that it will be paid 11/30? All set, going to the bank and BBB.

Wonderng if anyone else who had this happen has a common denomiator? I had used my paypal the day before?

Ascentive software Bogus charges

Ascentive just removed $29.95 from my account also.

I purchased their software a year ago and installed it with no results.

I contacted them, They have a "live chat" that isn't a chat, it's an e-mail, you send a message and they send a "reply" via e-mail, that's not a LIVE chat.

I explained the situation and they replied that they would refund they withdrawl (this happened very quickly, probably due to the amount of times they've had to do this, they're getting good at it)

The really amazing thing is that I don't even have the same computer or operating system that I had last year (I realize that they don't know this), but when I tried to use the backup disk in my new computer the computer wouldn't even load the program.

I find it amazing that every "Computer Fix" program ALWAYS finds hundreds of problems that they will "fix" with a purchase of their product, do ANY of them actually work?

My bank account had a preauthorization charge for 59.95 on it from Ascentive. Funny that this occurred right at the time I had ordered something online from Amazon.com.

I rechecked my Amazon order to ensure I didn't randomly buy something else, which I hadn't. Called my bank and they couldn't take it off unless the company (totally unknown to me) requested it, or I completed a Fraud statement, which I couldn't do until the money was actually deducted from my account. I contacted Ascentive, and since there is no order pending, the rep says it will automatically cancel and not come out of my account. That is yet to be seen.

I asked him how he thought this came about, and he suggested someone might have tried to use my credit card to place an order with their company.

I'm very suspicious they are hacking into orders placed from Amazon, or possibly the actual provider of my product from Amazon. I have two days to wait to see if the preauthorization expires or if it goes through.

Guest

I ran Trojan Remover on my system and it found a DLL file that was installed with one of the Ascentive Products. The explanation for the .dll was that it increased the apparent quantity of errors found, thus encouraging the consumer to purchase their product.
