imagine the frustration when you log onto your bank accpunt to find out some company was able to remove funds without your permission.something should be done about this, why is this allowed to happen i have had fraud performed on me in the past and would love to know what happened to the perpetraitor.they should be made to make retribution plus pay forcriminal act it is a sad world when people are allowed to manufacture companies and softwares with the sole intention of stealing from people by offering a service or product just gain access to their computer with the sole intent to steal from them.

I just checked my bank acc and $29.95 was taken out for this B.S. I NEVER ordered this and I want to know how they were able to get into my acc and take this money out !!!!!

I called waited and waited to talk to a human and that never happened. They came back with " we're unable to take your call at this time leave your name & phone number and we'll call you back" I will file a police report on these crooks. I live on S.S.

and can't afford to have this happen. :sigh

Ascentive software Bogus charges

Ascentive just removed $29.95 from my account also. I purchased their software a year ago and installed it with no results. I contacted them, They have a "live chat" that isn't a chat, it's an e-mail, you send a message and they send a "reply" via e-mail, that's not a LIVE chat. I explained the situation and they replied that they would refund they withdrawl (this happened very quickly, probably due to the amount of times they've had to do this, they're getting good at it) The really amazing thing is that I don't even have the same computer or operating system that I had last year (I realize that they don't know this), but when I tried to use the backup disk in my new computer the computer wouldn't even load the program. I find it amazing that every "Computer Fix" program ALWAYS finds hundreds of problems that they will "fix" with a purchase of their product, do ANY of them actually work?

My bank account had a preauthorization charge for 59.95 on it from Ascentive. Funny that this occurred right at the time I had ordered something online from Amazon.com.

I rechecked my Amazon order to ensure I didn't randomly buy something else, which I hadn't. Called my bank and they couldn't take it off unless the company (totally unknown to me) requested it, or I completed a Fraud statement, which I couldn't do until the money was actually deducted from my account. I contacted Ascentive, and since there is no order pending, the rep says it will automatically cancel and not come out of my account. That is yet to be seen.

I asked him how he thought this came about, and he suggested someone might have tried to use my credit card to place an order with their company.

I'm very suspicious they are hacking into orders placed from Amazon, or possibly the actual provider of my product from Amazon. I have two days to wait to see if the preauthorization expires or if it goes through.

I ran Trojan Remover on my system and it found a DLL file that was installed with one of the Ascentive Products. The explanation for the .dll was that it increased the apparent quantity of errors found, thus encouraging the consumer to purchase their product.

Speed Scan Pro

I'm a retired man an I like computing. I compared many programmes, then I decided to buy Ascentive Speed Scan Pro. Just now another anti virus program decovered a virus in the program. I'm really disappointed. It isn't a program "Pro". Unfortunately I don't know other people who have the same problem because I'm German and I live here in France. By the way, another program works really well - Active Speed - from the same firm. With PC Scan and Sweep I have also a bit of problems, sometimes it sweeps too much and it is difficult to regain the lost files.

Ascentive software ruined my computer

I downloaded Ascentive into my computer thinking it would improve the performance. Not only it did nothing to improve the computer's performance, my computer stopped working the next day and I had to get it fixed by a software repairman. I didn't do anything else to my computer other than download this software from Ascentive so I am virtually positive it happened because of the software from Ascentive. The repairman told me the software that I had downloaded was junk and damaging, and to never download programs like that again. Ascentive wouldn't refund my money and I had to fight with my credit card company for satisfaction.

I so agree with this. The software does not do what is says for me. Maybe it works for some but I guess I am not lucky enough.

#279465

After reading this and many comments, I can't help but to compare these to what I had experienced with another product from another company which also continues to play upon the 'performance increase' or 'clean my pc' theme. They offered a free diagnosis and a purchase would entitle me to correct any and all 'problems' that their diagnosis 'happened' to find. Yeah, just where have we heard all this before (rhetorical question).

In my situation, their diagnosis software (I won't mention the company) slowed my P4 system to a virtual crawl, behaving very unpredictably, going so far as to trying to uninstall my antivirus program and resorting to pop ups at the most inopportune moments. After several hours, I decided enough was enough. I had to resort to numerous emails and phone calls to at least a half dozen of their contact points just to recover a portion of my monies. And that was within a day of purchase, no less! Outrageous to be blunt. So I can sympathize with the comments that I've read here and elsewhere about this product. And I too was overcharged despite what was advertised. I also found that that company had also attempted to soften complaints on various complaint boards with similar 'explanations' I've read here.

What needs to be emphasized, is that one is wiser to research these type products and the company beforehand. Check for complaints, reviews and try to verify any stated endorsements. Claims of being MS partners, testimonials and stated guarantees just don't amound to much once you've been put through the mill. When it comes to saving time and money, 'google' first.

I say scam because if it was legit they would take care of the issues they caused and/or remiburse those for their troubles. Thanx again

Try using SYSTEM RESTORE. It's part of Windows and can be used to restore your computer to it's state prior to installing a program.

Do you remember the date you installed PC PRO SCAN?

Do you have a general idea of when you installed it? (What month?) If so use SYSTEM RESTORE to restore your computer to its state prior to when you installed PC PRO SCAN.

Garbage Software

To anyone considering buying speed scan pro, I would suggest you try someone else's software. Speed scan pro is garbage. And just like the old saying goes, "garbage in, garbage out". I purchased this software to help speed up my computer only to learn it was not doing anything. In fact, it seemed to slow my internet service down of which they came back with some more software to fix that (which doesn't do anything either, accept maybe slow something else down they can sell you a fix for). I have two softwares on my computer from this company and my computer is worse off than it ever was. They will draw you in on a registry cleaner and then they'll keep trying to sell you more software for things you thought they were already going to clean up from a previous software you bought from them. Stay away from this software, it is no good.

I KEEP PAYING FOR UPGRADES BECAUSE WHAT I AM SENT, NEVER SEEMS TO BE SUFFICIENT.

i bought the ascentive package on the internet because my computer needed something. when i downloaded what i paid for, there was not enough information to carry out all the functions. i had a menu come up everytime i opened my computer saying files where missing. i received the disk hoping this would fix the problem, but it didn't the same message box kept popping up. then i was told my trial was up, even though i paid for the package. in frustration i bought it again. and still the same thing is happening. i would like somebody to tell me what is going on. i can be reached on brunameyers@***.com.au

Made my computer run slower.

After down loading the software my computer ran slower. I was suckered in like many others and would like to have my money back as soon as possible. You can mail my check to 9531 Legend Isle Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78254. It's nothing but a ripoff scam. I've learn my lesson about purchasing TV and Computer ads for minimum cost. I do not recommend this product for anyone. You had better check thing out before purchase, it could save you some headaches later on. I do not like writing these type of reports but, this product does not live up to the advertisement.

I should know better at my age but I also was fooled into paying for the software rubbish. After finding very quickly that it was messing up my computer I removed it, even before before the payment showed up on my bank statement.

Have written it of as a 'Seniors' moment.

Don't have many, thankfully. Can't afford them!

Finally Fast .com Is a rip off!

I ran a scan from them on my computer a year ago. that would be may of 2009. This Ascentive company says they are affiliated with finally fast. A year later they started debiting my account for $29.95 a month for ,what they said, was 2 programs that I signed up for. I know this is not true. the fact that they are so hard to get a hold of just shows that they are a not a honest company and Im sure they do this kind of scam in hopes that people will not pay attention to there accounts. I told the man I finally talked to (John M.)to give me my account info and he could or would not tell me my sign in or password. BECAUSE I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR IT!IT IS A CROCK!I cancelled through him and he said they would reimburse me the money. I will not hold my breath.I have to cancel my debit card to be sure.

6 Total Fraud Charges

I have had to call this company 3 times to get a total of 6 Fraud charges off my credit card. I have had no other fraud charges from any other company. I can't believe that anyone stole my credit card number just to try to get copies of this joke of a program. I have read at least 15 other reviews with the same problem. I am now going to file a criminal report as advised. Hopefully all that have had this problem will do the same so maybe this company will wake up and fix this issue with the billing.

I was called by my credit card company yesterday due to what they thought was a fraudulent charge by Ascentive. They were right.

I had to cancel the card to take care of the issue and will have to wait 5 to 7 days for the new card.

I tried calling Ascentive for at least 3 hours and nobody picked up the phone. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company.

I didn't order software but they charged me

My credit card company notified me of a suspicious charge by Ascentive Llc on my credit card. I did not order this software! Yet, this company had my card number??? So I refused the charge and changed my card number. I figured that they must have obtained my credit card number in some fraudulent way. It is a hassel for me ... but at least they didn't get my money for something I didn't order! Thank goodness for American Express. They have an algorithim in their software that apparently notices lots of charges to their customers and that looked suspicious to them.

Wow, googling Ascentive software, it seems that they are in the business of charging people's credit cards fraudulently with some alarming frequency. They suck.

How to file claims against Ascentive

While routinely checking my bank account transactions online, I have discovered an unauthorized charge of $59.99 from originating from Ascentive, LLC. I have never done, or planned to do business with the said company. I have immediately notified my bank that the fraudulent charge has occurred, and canceled my debit card associated with the affected account. After doing some research, I've realized this is a fraudulent company and there is no benefit to a consumer to contact them directly. Usually, the first thing the naïve consumer does, is to contact the company first in hope of being given an explanation and retribution. Often the consumer is very emotional about their complaint. After some hand twisting and threats, the company eventually agrees to refund the consumer the charge, humiliating the consumer in the process, because he or she "didn't understand the rules". What I urge the consumers to do is not to waste their time and direct their energy at legally prosecuting the company. First, you have obviously determined that you are dealing with thieves, and the thieves will do everything possible at intimidating you physiologically (not giving you contact options, blaming you, and finally getting off the legal hook by refunding you). But you should keep in mind that for every 10 consumers going through this process, there will be always 20% who simply either give up, or just miss the charge and never report it. This is how the thief is earning their illegal profit. Therefore, I urge that consumers take their time and rationally approach this issue. 1. Cancel your debit/credit card to ensure no further charges. 2. Call your bank's dispute department and demand the refund. The refund will be credited to your bank account within a couple of days. 3. Research the Company. States have databases with company's registration information, founders name, address, etc. 4. Contact the authorities and file reports. It is better NOT to report against the company, file the complaint against an individual who is the head of the company. 5. File the POLICE REPORT immediately referencing similar fraudulent activity as evidenced by other consumer website complaints. In this case, the following is the information about the company. Ascentive, LLC Limited Liability Company - Foreign Entity Number: 293**** ADAM SCHRAN Title: President Address: 201 SPRING GARDEN STRE PHILADELPHIA PA 19123 I have immediately filed the report against Adam Schran (by the way, here is what looks like to be a video of this jocker on YouTube, so watch this D..k who is in charge of the company taking money out of your accounts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSBwyNnxG5w ) and Ascentive, LLC with the following authorities: Philadelphia Police Department http://www.ppdonline.org/pdf/75-561.pdf Internal Affairs Division 7790 Dungan Road Philadelphia, Pa 19111 PA FBI Agent: Janice K. Bought ascentive "scan & sweep" yesterday and i can't use it

i bought ascentive "scan & Sweep" yesterday, because after a recommended scan i had "problems" that were "affecting my computer's performance". i didn't know i could try it for free. since my purchase, i haven't been able able to use the program i bought (unable to connect). i've contacted customer twice and the problem hasn't been resolved. yesterday, i chatted with support and they sent an e-mail with instructions to fix the problem. not only did it not fix the problem, i encountered different problems. today, i contacted support, again. as i was chatting with support, the session was ended (not by me) as i was typing.

that's because you unwittingly installed rogue malware onto your computer, and paid for it too! Download malwarebytes and run it, hopefully that will remove it all.

You might want to call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

P.S. don't ever pay for antispyware programs!!
